Black Friday and Thanksgiving Detox

Jul102010

sale As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them. ~John Fitzgerald Kennedy

In this post-modern world in which we often reside, as opposed to live, the norm has become that of over-indulgence and entitlement. The days of the pilgrims and the native americans have long since been retired for people clogging their bodies, minds and spirits with a fast-food, consumerist lifestyle. The question is no longer a matter of what shall we be thankful for as much as it is... How do we keep up with the Joneses or the Homayounkhahs down the street?

I am here to tell you... there is still hope for this generation and future generations!!!

This Thanksgiving, I encourage you to enjoy the time spent with your friends and family to the fullest! It is not about whether or not your favorite dish is on the menu... or if the meal is served exactly at 3pm... with everyone dressed to the nines...

It more about savoring each bite of food, each word spoken in conversation, and taking in the moments as if each one were to be your last...

Ha! For those of you reading this thinking that I was going to give you a digestible recipe for detoxifying the body of all of the fats, carbs, etc. that you are going to consume this Thursday, Friday and Saturday... possibly even lingering into Sunday brunch... Sorry to disappoint you. You already know the foods that are bad for you and trust me there are plenty of blogs you can read that will enlighten, you while simultaneously disheartening you, because it will tell you the truth you never wanted to know about the Thanksgiving dishes you have grown to love and be addicted to over the years.

This blog is going to take a different spin to detoxification. I am speaking more along the lines of detoxification of the soul and the mind.
